Documents Needed to Rent Student Accommodation in Paris
The paperwork to have ready before you request a Paris room, and how each item is used.
Prepare the file before you find the room
The rooms that disappear fastest are lost during the days spent gathering documents. Assembling your file first turns a housing search into a decision rather than a scramble: you see a room that fits, you request it the same day, and the review can start immediately.
Everything below is standard for a student stay and none of it is unusual to ask for. Collect it once, store it in one folder, and reuse it for every enquiry you make — including enquiries outside Jump In.
What a Jump In request asks for
A room request in Paris asks for your contact details, your nationality, your school, your intended stay dates, an emergency contact and an identity document. Each item has a purpose: the identity document and contact details identify the person who will sign, the school and the dates define the stay, and the emergency contact is standard for shared student accommodation.
The Paris team reviews the request and may ask for more information. Nothing is charged while your request is being reviewed, and the rental agreement is only issued after approval.
Documents worth having ready even if not requested upfront
Beyond the request itself, it is sensible to have your enrolment or internship confirmation, your passport or national identity card and any visa or residence document relevant to your stay available as clean scans. These are the documents most commonly asked for anywhere in the student housing market, so having them ready costs you nothing and saves days.
Do not send financial documents to unverified parties. Legitimate requests for information come from an identified provider or platform, in the context of an application you actually started.
How your details become the agreement
The rental agreement is prepared from the details you supply, so accuracy matters more than speed. Check the spelling of your name against your identity document, confirm your stay dates against your university or internship calendar, and make sure the email address you use is one you will still read after you arrive.
The agreement identifies the independent local accommodation provider letting the room and is signed electronically before the online payment.
After the documents: what happens next
Once your request is approved and the agreement is issued, you sign it electronically and pay the first month of rent online, with the Booking Service Fee shown separately at checkout. The administrative fee and the security deposit are paid at check-in to your City Manager in Paris.
Jump In is the booking platform: it publishes the rooms, reviews requests, prepares the rental agreement and collects the first month of rent online. The accommodation itself is provided by the independent local accommodation provider identified before you pay and named in the agreement you sign.
